Today we are here to make a case for not focusing on yourself too much in 2024. To set the stage, let’s review the spotlight effect, a psychological phenomenon that refers to our tendency to overestimate the extent to which others notice and pay attention to our appearance, behavior, and mistakes. Essentially, people experiencing the spotlight effect believe that they are the center of attention and that others are highly focused on them, even when this is not the case.
