Internet subcultures are great ways to make sense of human behaviours and economic trends. A trend that I have been loving is the Girl/ Boy / Corporate/ ADHD Math trend on TikTok/ Instagram Reels.

Through my undergraduate education, I took multiple modules on Economics. In all my understanding of Economics came from a perspective of having a ration human making efficient decisions. While some theories did account for irrationality, the discipline overall was based on the idea of resource optimising human.

For me this trend is a fascinating attempt to humanize the often-overlooked aspect of human behavior in the realm of economics. In a world where economic theories are traditionally rooted in the notion of "rational economic beings," the Girl/Boy/Corporate/ADHD Math trend provides valuable insights into consumer behavior and has profound implications for consumer finance startups.
