Between 2024-25 at least fifty countries will hold general or presidential elections. This list includes the United States of America, India, Russia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Australia, amongst others. We can of course get into the domestic politics of these specific countries and interrogate the nature of their democracies, but that’s not the goal of this newsletter. The goal of this newsletter is slightly more abstract. It is to make sense of the moral status of democracy and its relevance today.
