The Odyssey by Homer
In 2026, Odysseus the wanderer returns when Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey arrives in cinemas. It is a story about what happens after a catastrophe, about a man trying to return to a life that no longer quite exists, in a world where old certainties have collapsed. Odysseus is a post-war hero, navigating disorder, temptation, exhaustion, and regret. In that sense, he may be the most modern hero in ancient literature.
